  • Rome Wedding by Rochelle Cheever Photography

I’m always so impressed by a bride who can plan an overseas wedding…and pull it off with incredible elegance! Lovelies, say ciao to this romantic number planned by Italia Celebrations and shot by the super talented Rochelle Cheever Photography. Deep, rich purples and reds, a vintage Fiat and lots of candlelight created old-world ambiance and spoke perfectly the history and beauty of Rome. The details don’t stop here…pour a glass of vino and take a peek at the full gallery!

From the Bride… I can’t remember what inspired me while planning my wedding day. I just started with a venue (Rome) and then everything else started from there. Therefore, I daresay that Rome itself was my inspiration. :) Since it was a very intimate wedding, it was unlike any wedding I’ve ever seen. Everyone seemed to be having fun — even our priests. If you look through the photos, it did not seem like an actual wedding ceremony was occurring — the priests were laughing, the bride and groom were laughing, our guests were laughing. It was relaxed, informal, very personal and yet spiritual at the same time. I will always remember my wedding to be one word — HAPPY. Not just for me and my husband but for everyone who was there. Even now, they would tell us what a beautiful wedding it was — you could feel the love and joy of everyone. It truly was a celebration.

Every girl dreams of a perfect wedding. For me, my dream was fulfilled. I realized that a perfect wedding does not mean that each detail and moment of your wedding is actually perfect. It should just be perfect enough FOR YOU. Our wedding had a thousand “flaws” to it — simple things such as not having the veil pinned to my hair or the candle being lit at the start of the ceremony and not during the actual part of the ceremony where it should be lit. Even the journey to Rome was insane. My secretary lost ALL of our original papers on her way to FEDEX a month before the wedding — that’s a whole story in itself — and we realized my passport was inside my checked luggage an hour prior to boarding. Flaws and all, I could not have dreamed of a better way to get married — because I married the man of my dreams, because I felt all the love and support of my family and friends, and because we got married in our most favorite city in the world: Rome. Just know that Murphy’s law will always hold true — anything that can go wrong will. It helped me to know this fact during the whole process — to remain calm and composed even through all the stress that comes with wedding planning. The best advice we ever got (from one of Julian’s friends) was to remember to take it all in. It will go by so fast. Enjoy the journey, and have fun.

Also, get a good wedding planner and photographer. Do not scrimp on these two items. Since it is a destination wedding, you would need a planner you can trust as you are not physically present to check on things and book your suppliers and venues. My wedding planner, Brenda Babcock, is amazing. I could not have pulled this wedding off from 10,000 miles away without her. Not only did she handle the logistics in Rome, but she also gave the best recommendations based on what we wanted — the flowers, the reception venue, the makeup artist, the bridal car, etc. If you are planning to have a destination wedding, you have to make sure that you have an amazing photographer as well. What good is a beautiful setting if your pictures are not able to capture the moment? Search for photographers that have the style you want. I chose Rochelle because of her ability to capture priceless moments, as well as her style of fine art photography. Our pictures are unlike any I’ve seen. They are like art pieces and were perfect for our Rome setting.

  • San Antonio Wedding from Eclectic Images Photography Gabriella New York Bridal Salon

My goodness. Eclectic Images Photography, we big time heart you. We just can’t get over the way you captured this San Antonio affair – perfectly. The images all feel like a big, romantic party and we can’t help but feel like we were there, having a grand old time. Dancing with the Mariachi Band, toasting with the beautiful couple. Care to join the party?

July 4, 2011 we decided to take a relaxing sun soaked week in Puerto Rico.  From the moment we landed it rained, let’s just say we didn’t have a ton of beach time but we definitely became very familiar with Old San Juan, the historic fortresses and the mojitos. On the last day we were visiting yet another fortress, Castillo San Cristóbal, and we walked up to the top grassy area to look over onto the cliffs and watch all the iguanas run around.  There was no one around and Brett oh so cleverly got down on one knee….after that for the sun came out!  For our last day and a half the weather was gorgeous. Clearly, I knew that my ring was magical!

Because we were already embarked on a 10 year journey, we wanted our day to be “just a party” – a simple celebration of us and the continuation of our adventure together. With that said, we wanted flowers to be colorful and be the colors of spring. We wanted all the formalities to be swept aside and to have a simple ceremony and a reception that was good food, good people and good conversation. So we omitted much of the traditional and really only observed the cutting of the cakes and a short portion dedicated to toasts. Since I was from Texas and many of our guests were traveling to Lone Star State for the first time, I wanted to have a little bit of Texas. So we had some traditional cuisine of south Texas and of course the most amazing mariachi band one could find, including a dancer!

  • Swarthmore, PA Wedding from Sweetwater Portraits

So often we get caught up in the amazing details of the wedding. Making sure everything is perfect and pretty. And while we definitely think the details of the wedding can be a fabulous way to show off your personality and love in a super sweet, super unique way, the words on the back of the groom’s + groomsmen’s’ ties say it all: Be Happy. We love this wedding from Sweetwater Portraits for reminding us that the biggest, most beautiful thing about a wedding is the love and the happiness apparent in the union of two special people. And because of that reminder, we’re convinced the gallery is going to make us all a little happier today! From the happy groom … It was actually my eldest brother who at 2 or 3 years old, while our Aunt Mary was getting ready for her own wedding, looked up to her and said the words, “Be Happy.” Our mom never forgot the moment and two years ago when our aunt made ties for my brother’s wedding, those words were an obvious choice to mark such a special family connection. We were so honored to have my Aunt Mary make the ties for our wedding and thought those words to be the perfect send-off for our marriage as well. From the blushing bride … Having grown up in the town of Swarthmore, with my mom an employee of Swarthmore College, the amphitheater has always been a special place to me. Tim, now a student in architecture school, fell in love with the space years before our wedding so it was really a natural choice for our ceremony. We decided early on that we would design and make as many of the day’s details as we could. Save the dates, centerpieces, signage and other parts became chances to experiment with wood and other materials as we tried to pay tribute to the truly beautiful arboretum that Swarthmore College sits in and we were so lucky to share. Tim had experience through school with laser cutting and etching which we used on a lot of the wood but in the end it was many hours that family and friends helped out with that put it all together. Tim and I met upon arriving at Williams College in the fall of 2002 where we happened to have rooms assigned just doors away from each other. Our parents actually met first in the hallway while helping us move in which was sufficiently awkward but we both managed and soon thereafter were headed to where we are now. Tim proposed after 9 years including 4 between San Francisco and Philadelphia (he just couldn’t seem to make it to 10!). To have our amazing families and friends in Swarthmore for our wedding meant the world to us and we really couldn’t have hoped for anything more. • Total Car Score Ranks Top 10 Best High-Performance Cars of 2012

LOS ANGELES , July 11, 2012 /PRNewswire/ — Total Car Score ( www.totalcarscore.com ), the most comprehensive automotive ranking and comparison website, today issued its list of the Top 10 High-Performance Cars for 2012. (Logo: http://photos.prnewswire.com/prnh/20120301/LA62628LOGO ) The high-performance cars on this list come from a wide variety of vehicle types, including street-ready muscle cars, high-performance luxury sedans, and even a full-sized racing truck. Performance cars remain a vital part of most automakers’ product plans, despite increasing sensitivity from the marketplace and government regulators regarding fuel economy. “High-performance cars still matter,” said Karl Brauer , CEO of Total Car Score. “Performance models sell in relatively low volumes, so automakers can justify the image boost they provide against the small hit they cause to Corporate Average Fuel Economy statistics. There’s also a technology play here. Performance cars are often on the leading edge of vehicle research and development work, and this work eventually benefits the entire model line.” Total Car Score’s ranking of the top high-performance models for 2012 is based on the website’s aggregate scoring model that incorporates the car reviews and rankings of top automotive authorities. The top 10 high-performance cars, listed in order of their Total Car Score, are as follows: 1. 2012 Infiniti IPL G Coupe – Total Car Score: 85.21, MPG 19-22 Combined The 2012 Infiniti IPL G Coupe earns one of the highest Total Car Scores in the Luxury High-Performance segment, which is quite a feat considering that other cars in the category include the BMW M3 and the Boxster and Cayman from Porsche, Brauer said. 2. 2012 Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG – Total Car Score: 84.45, MPG 18-19 Combined This is the high-performance, high-class, high-tech version of the company’s premium midsize sedan, coupe and wagon, the E-Class. The 2012 model year has seen a radical change under the AMG version’s hood. Where there was once a naturally aspirated 6.2-liter V8, there now resides a twin-turbocharged 5.5-liter V8. 3. 2012 Cadillac CTS-V – Total Car Score: 83.65, MPG 14-16 Combined The Cadillac CTS-V, with its sophisticated chassis hardware and powerful engine, is a genuinely strong contender among the usual suspects in the high-performance segment. 4. 2012 Ford Taurus SHO – Total Car Score: 83.22, MPG 20 Combined While this performance-oriented version of the Taurus sedan has several admirable qualities, what makes it unique is the 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine and the firmer suspension tuning for confident handling. 5. 2012 Chrysler 300 SRT8 – Total Car Score: 82.59, MPG 17 Combined The Chrysler 300 SRT8 makes the list mostly due to its 470-horsepower Hemi V8. Small improvements to its suspension, steering and brakes give the 300 SRT8 handling capabilities uncommon in full-size sedans. 6. 2012 Dodge Charger SRT8 – Total Car Score: 81.77, MPG 17 Combined Even with its aggressive styling and powerful Hemi V8, the Charger SRT8 can serve family transport duties due to its comfortable and well-designed interior. 7. 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 – Total Car Score: 80.00, MPG 14 Combined The Grand Cherokee’s standard features include heated and ventilated front seats, a navigation system and a rearview camera. Not bad, but the 6.4-liter V8’s acceleration and sporty handling place it in the top ten. 8. 2012 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 – Total Car Score: 78.80, MPG 16 Combined The ZL1 sets a new performance bar for the pony car portion of the high-performance segment with the 580 horsepower coming from a supercharged V8, a sophisticated traction control system, a magnetic-ride suspension system, and one of the smoothest-shifting six-speed manual transmissions on the market. 9. 2012 Chevrolet Corvette – Total Car Score: 78.03, MPG 18-19 Combined The Corvette’s list of strong points includes its winning combination of sex appeal and bang-for-the-buck. With a 430-horsepower V8 engine under their hoods, both the coupe and convertible are strong performers. 10. 2012 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor – Total Car Score: 77.93, MPG 13 Combined The Raptor earned a surprisingly high Total Car Score given the fact that it is a pickup truck in a very competitive segment full of sports cars and sport sedans. The Raptor makes the list due to its powerful V8, long-travel suspension with advanced shock absorbers, and sophisticated electronic traction controls optimized for a variety of terrain types. • Expert Tips To Treat Your Hair Right

No matter what women do to their hair, they are looking for answers on how to treat it right. According to a recent survey, two-thirds of women (66 percent) say they would like one-on-one advice on hair care. Hair care expert Gretchen Monahan, the East Coast’s most dynamic beauty and fashion trendsetter for the last 10 years, knows the importance of expert hair care. “Considering all the things that women do to their hair, care that targets specific levels and types of damage is essential for healthy, beautiful hair,” said Monahan. This call has been answered: The Dove Hair Care Hotline, as debuted on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” is the ultimate destination for individualized hair care solutions. Monahan has lent her breadth of knowledge, enabling an expert staff to provide women with one-on-one advice for whatever they do to their hair. Here is a preview of expert tips you can receive by calling the Hair Care Hotline:Color: A New Routine • Two out of three women (66 percent) color their hair and should be aware that the effects of lightening and darkening are not the same. • Lightened or highlighted hair has been stripped of its color to achieve a lighter shade, which may eventually leave it feeling dry. To help revive hair structure, making it feel noticeably soft, smooth and luminous, Monahan recommends washing daily with Dove Advanced Color Care For Lightened or Highlighted Hair.• Hair colored darker or similar to its natural shade may eventually lose its luster and new color-coated feel. To preserve the smoothness and softness of hair and enhance color quality, Monahan recommends washing daily with Dove Advanced Color Care For Hair Colored Darker or Similar to its Natural Shade. The different things women do to their hair require different kinds of care. Whether women style their hair with brushes or flatirons, they could be damaging it slightly or more severely. Colorers should know that the effects of lightening and darkening are not the same.Damage: How to Hydrate• More than three-quarters of women (76 percent) think their hair is at least somewhat damaged. • Deep conditioning is an important part of keeping hair healthy, but many women ignore the telltale signs that their locks are in need of such attention. Roughness, dryness, brittleness and frizz are just some of the symptoms of dry hair that signal the need for extra care.• Applying a deep conditioning mask will help repair the damaged hair by intensely hydrating hair and reducing breakage. Women should choose one that is right for their hair type.Styling: Ride the Waves • Stop fighting nature! Rather than combating curls and spending time straightening hair with a flatiron, women can cut down on their daily beauty routines by embracing their natural waves. • To prevent frizz during the drying process, try not to touch or scrunch hair. • If time permits, dry hair overnight and maximize waves by twisting hair into a bun and securing with a cloth hair band to prevent kinking. In the morning, let hair down and smooth waves with a lightweight styling cream to finish the look. .
